ALEXANDROUPOLIS, GREECE – The city with the sea lighthouse
Alexandroupoli is located on the shores of the White Sea in northeastern Greece and is part of the administrative region of eastern Macedonia and Thrace. It has about 55,000 inhabitants and is a relatively new city with a short history. Alexandroupoli has its own airport , and ferries to a number of Aegean islands (Lesbos, Limnos, Samothraki, etc.) depart from its small port.
The symbol of the city is the Headlight – set at a high elevation and the second highest in Europe. Around it you will notice numerous cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops.
