SARTI, HALKIDIKI – White sand and turquoise waters
Sarti is a resort village in northern Greece, located on the Sithonia peninsula, opposite the monasteries of Mount Athos. The population is about 1500 inhabitants. The summer season here is long (from early May to late September). This is the main reason Sarti to be a preferred destination for many tourists.
The resort is divided into two parts, the new part consists mainly of hotels, complexes and studios for rent, located around the coast. The old part of the resort rises amphitheatrically and therefore the hotels in this area provide their guests with a wonderful panoramic view of the sea. The center of Sarti is also here, it is very well organized and you can find everything you need.
Sarti beaches
Sarti’s beaches are one of the most beautiful in Greece, awarded the title of blue flag and characterized by its fine white sand and crystal clear turquoise waters. However, near the rocks you should watch out for sea urchins, especially in the old part of Sarti, where the sea is much deeper. The strip is about 2.5 km long, well organized with sunbeds, umbrellas, opportunities for water sports and boat trips to nearby destinations. There are a number of beach restaurants available to tourists during the summer season, as well as several amazing beaches nearby that are also worth visiting: Portokali – the most popular camping beach in Greece, Platania – with a sandy beach, Goa beach (2 km south), Kalamitsi beach (25 km south of Sarti) and others.
The promenade is dotted with a large number of souvenir shops, taverns, cafes and bars. The food in the common family restaurants is plentiful and delicious with many seafood delicacies (squid, sea bream), moussaka and zucchini.
An interesting excursion that you can take is from Ouranoupolis, from where you can take a boat and sail along Mount Athos (duration- about 3 hours).
