NEA KALIKRATIA, CENTRAL HALKIDIKI
Nea Kalikratia is one of the most famous resorts in Halkidiki, located in the Gulf of Thessaloniki, 40 km from Thessaloniki and 5 km from Nea Iraklia. Due to their proximity, the two villages share the largest sandy beach in the area with a length of 4 km, known as “SAHARA”. It stretches along the coastal road and thus connects the two resorts.
The area is awarded the title “Blue Flag”, which is given for the purity of sea water. Here tourists will find everything they need for an active holiday: golf, yachting, sailing, fishing and even mountaineering, as the majestic Olympus is in the immediate vicinity.

Nea Kallikratia offers interesting historical sites and remains of ancient times:

In 1959 not far from Nea Kalikratia, it was discovered Petralona Cave where a human skull more than 800,000 years old was found. The cave is located only 12 km from the city and part of it is a museum.
