FOURKAS/SKALA FOURKAS, KASSANDRA
Fourkas is a small village located high up in the interior of Kassandra – the westernmost arm of the Halkidiki peninsula. It is 4km from Skala Fourkas, 7km from Kassandria, 8km from Possidi, 10km from Siviri and about 100km from Thessaloniki. The architecture of Fourkas is traditional and consists mainly of stone houses and small squares. There are chapels and several temples which are evidence of the long history of the settlement. The atmosphere is complemented by the small restaurants perched around the main square, offering delicious local fish specialities. The village is surrounded by pine and olive groves in an entirely mountainous landscape.
Beaches of Fourkas/Skala Fourkas
Skala Fourkas, translated as Port of Fourkas, is located a few kilometers along the scenic road from Fourkas, stunning tourists with its panorama over the coast. The resort has a beautiful sandy shore and crystal clear blue water. Like most beaches in the area, that of Skala Fourkas has been awarded the Blue Flag. Right next to the beach itself is a well-maintained square with shops, bars and restaurants with spectacular views of Thessaloniki Bay and the setting sun. Various cultural events take place during the summer, as well as one of the most important events on the peninsula of Kassandra, the Agia Maria Festival in July.
