MYRTOS BEACH, KEFALONIA ISLAND – Remarkable beach
Myrtos Beach is in the Ionian Sea and lies between the feet of two mountains, Agia Dynati and Kalon Oros (901m) in the northwest of Kefalonia island.
Myrtos is one of the most famous beaches in the world and it is not accidentally ranked twelve times in the first place, as the most beautiful beach in Greece.
Myrtos is an emblematic beach whose fame comes from its unique location and the natural resources gathered in stunning contrast – emerald sea waters and white smooth marble pebbles scattered across a wide strip of beach. The large bay of Myrtos is surrounded by steep but green slopes that catch the breath of its visitors with amazing views of the sea. The beach has not only beautiful surroundings, but it is also with easy access, which makes it an attractive destination for many tourists. There is a private parking lot available at the base of the cliffs – if you travel by car, and during the summer season there is a bus departing from the port of Agia Efimia. Timetables can be found at the Tourist Information office or online. You can also reach the beach from the village of Divarata by a winding road, dotted with sharp turns. The view from the road to Myrtos is one of the most photographed in Greece. And the sunset at the beach gulf is incredible – don’t miss it!
The beach is well organized with sunbeds, umbrellas and a bar. There are several taverns at the top of the rocks, next to the road leading to the village of Divarata.
